Challenge Accepted
After watching our 2012 In Pictures video, Brian commented on what everybody already knows: There are not enough family photos with me in them. He’s made it his mission to change that and I’m happy. So happy, I’m not even complaining when he shoots me sans makeup, sporting a bedhead bun. Because the real point is that I’m in a photo with my cuddly four-year-old and it’s not an iPhone selfie. With any luck I’ll appear in our 2013 video more times than Cookie Monster. Fingers crossed!

Beautiful! I love how real you are. I need to take a lesson here. My kids won’t care later about all my imperfections in photos–they’ll just see their beautiful mom–like I see mine in photos when we were young, despite her tired eyes and no makeup as a mom of five young children. -Natalia (all_these_things)
It’s so true! Our kids will cherish those photos. And when we’re old and gray, we’ll look back and realize how beautiful we were. We’ll remember the demanding days of being mothers to young children and treasure the photos just as much as them. Letting go of my vanity just enough to allow pictures like this to be taken is a gift to my family and my future self. It’s hard, but worth it!
